The idea behind the HyväValinta™ collection is to offer retailers all types of responsible bags in one place.
Our ultimate goal is that all products are made from recycled materials or otherwise certified materials that support sustainable development, and the carbon footprint of the raw materials is compensated where possible. The products can be visually customized according to the customer’s brand.
KassiVastuu works to ensure that bag products are truly responsible throughout their entire life cycle – from the perspective of the environment, social responsibility and good governance. In addition, KassiVastuu guides its own and its partners’ activities towards comprehensive compensation of the carbon footprint of the HyväValinta product family by 2030.

That is why HyväValinta bags are designed to be reusable and ultimately recyclable, either in energy production or as a source of new raw materials. Our goal is that the carbon footprint of all HyväValinta products will be determined and offset during 2026 whenever it is technically and economically possible. Why can HyväValinta™ plastic bags be an ecological choice?
A plastic bag is not automatically a problem – what matters is where and how it is made, how many times it is used and where it ultimately ends up. HyväValinta™ plastic bags are designed for reuse, not single use. Most models are made mainly from recycled plastic (70–100%), which helps to save natural resources and energy consumption. Our range also includes the HyväValinta Origin series, which is made from virgin plastic when you want a particularly good print, a thinner but still durable structure or the product's suitability for hygiene use. At the end of its use, the bag can be used as a garbage bag in energy production or recycled as plastic waste. By choosing a HyväValinta™ bag, you are doing your everyday climate work – responsibly and without unnecessary ballast.
How is the carbon footprint calculated?
Our goal is that the carbon footprint of all HyväValinta™ products will be determined and offset by 2026, whenever technically and economically feasible. We will do this work in cooperation with independent experts and certified compensation partners. The carbon footprint calculation is based on life cycle assessment (LCA) and takes into account, among other things: 1. The origin of the raw material: for example, the proportion of recycled plastic or FSC-certified paper 2. Emissions during the manufacturing phase: energy consumption, material waste and printing methods 3. Transportation and distribution: distances, transport methods and packaging logic 4. Use and end-of-life: the possibility of reuse, recyclability or energy content Our goal is to make responsible choices easy for you - transparently and verifiably.
How does KassiVastuu Oy monitor compliance with its supply chain's environmental objectives?
KassiVastuu Oy continuously monitors its supply chain and ensures that it supports the EU's environmental objectives and the Packaging Directive, the guidelines of the Finnish Ministry of the Environment and the responsibility policies of the Finnish Trade Federation. This is done, among other things, by requiring suppliers to provide sufficient product information, certificates of origin and responsibility reports, by cooperating with domestic circular economy operators (e.g. plastic recycling), by monitoring changes in legislation and by updating products to meet future requirements (e.g. EU thickness limits for plastic bags).
